The Filli Café at Sharjah Airport emerges as an exemplar of modern design that caters to the needs and senses of travellers. Their utilitarian form, a nod to industrial chic, is softened by their color, harmonizing with the verdure spread throughout the interior. The Filli Café's design philosophy marries function with form, creating an environment that not only meets the practical demands of an airport setting but also provides a sanctuary for travellers, enveloping them in a design that speaks to comfort, community, and the sensory delight of architectural finesse.

The space planning indicates a clear demarcation of zones – a service station, back-of-house (BOH) area, smoking lounge, and a dining area totaling 146 square meters. The counter & BOH areas account for 17% of the total area, signifying the operational efficiency designed into the space. Each area is clearly defined yet seamlessly integrated, suggesting an uninterrupted flow between the operational and customer-facing facets of the café.

Illumination is thoughtfully addressed, balancing functional recessed lighting with striking pendant fixtures that exude a soft glow, reminiscent of the bygone era of luxurious air travel. The lighting design not only enhances the ambiance but also ensures the travellers' comfort and the staff's operational efficiency.

Exposed brickwork adds a textural counterpoint to the smooth metal and soft fabrics, contributing an urban edge to the space. The juxtaposition of textures reflects a layered approach to the design, inviting travellers to experience a tapestry of surfaces within a cohesive whole.

The corrugated metal sheets, finished in a distinctive green powder coating, command immediate attention, delineating the space with their rhythmic verticality and serving as the primary visual anchor within the layout.

The geometric patterns of the flooring assert themselves boldly, guiding travellers through the space with an implicit pathway and complementing the overhead design elements. The choice of flooring is strategic, balancing visual impact with the practical needs of high-traffic areas.
